A Beautiful Ministry

At Beautifully Broken, we believe that every woman, no matter her past, deserves to see herself as God sees her: redeemed, loved, and full of purpose. We know that true freedom comes through Jesus Christ, and we are driven to share that truth with women inmates across Oregon.

Why We Serve:

We believe that brokenness is not the end of the story—it’s the beginning of transformation. Every woman has a God-given identity and purpose, but too often, shame, guilt, and regret keep her from seeing it. We serve because we know what happens when chains are broken and lives are set free: women discover their worth, step into their calling, and experience the fullness of God’s grace.

What We Do:

We walk into prisons, not as perfect people, but as women who have experienced God’s grace firsthand. We build trust through authentic relationships, share the message of Jesus Christ, and mentor women as they begin their journey of restoration. Through teaching, prayer, and support, we guide them to see themselves through the lens of God’s love and mercy.

How We See the Future:

We envision a future where every woman understands that her past does not define her. We see women breaking free from chains of shame and walking boldly in their God-given identity. We imagine restored lives, healed families, and a ripple effect of redemption that transforms entire communities.

Who We Are:

We are women who know what it means to be beautifully broken. We’ve experienced the healing power of Jesus Christ and are compelled to share that with others. We are not just ministers of the gospel—we are companions, encouragers, and advocates. Our mission is to walk alongside women, showing them that their stories, no matter how broken, can be rewritten by God into something beautiful.

We don’t just believe in change; we are here to see it happen. One woman at a time, one story at a time, we are creating a movement of redemption, grace, and unshakable hope.

Veronica Ramos

I’m passionate about helping women see who they are through the lens of Jesus’ loving grace. Jesus came and radically changed the world setting a standard that was counter-cultural, upending the traditions, norms, and religious customs of His time. He’s done the same in my life, showing me that the very things that I deem as failures and flaws are perfectly suited for His calling and His glory. The qualifications for the ministry that he has laid before me have brought so much shame in my life, but through His transformative power I’ve come to see that each experience has uniquely qualified and positioned me to help other women tap into that same power, removing shame and helping women step into who God has called them to be.

Courtney brown

I grew up listening to the lies that I was rejected, abandoned, unloved, and not enough. I grew up knowing a God who felt distant—one I believed was legalistic and required works in order to be loved. In response, I lived recklessly, believing those lies. My life spiraled into alcoholism, abusive relationships, and a complete loss of identity.
But Jesus saved me and transformed my life. He lifted me from the pit, and by His grace and mercy, He delivered me from the lies of the enemy. Today, I walk in the freedom of knowing who I am in Him. I am no longer defined by my past, but by His love and redemption.
It is my purpose and passion to help other women see themselves through the lens of Jesus’ beautiful, loving grace. As part of Beautifully Broken, I am driven by our mission: to bring hope, healing, and redemption to women by sharing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. My greatest desire is to help women discover their worth in Him, embrace their identity as His beloved daughters, and know that they are loved beyond measure.

Sara Thurston

Hello. My name is Sarah. I have been working in jail ministry for about a year and a half and have always been passionate about getting into prisons. I love the Lord and want everyone to experience His love and mercy for us. I want everyone to know Him and know that no one is too far gone for God. As the Bible states “I tell you that in the same way, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” (Luke 15:7 NIV) Aside from God, my passions are weight training, volunteering, reading my Bible and God-based devotionals, running 5K’s, going on hikes, and spending time with my son.
I felt God put on my heart to move into prison ministry for years now and I plan to listen. “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8 NIV)
